IPL celebrates Arbor Day with Indy Free Tree

IPL celebrates Arbor Day with Indy Free Tree

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.— Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL), a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), is celebrating Arbor Day by sponsoring the annual Indy Free Tree to support ongoing sustainability efforts. This year, the Indy Free Tree event will give away 1,000 white spruce trees on a first-come, first-served basis and limited to one per family. Additional details are below:

    WHEN: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Friday, April 28

WHERE: Monument Circle in front of the IPL building

VISUALS: A short event program will commence promptly at 10:45 a.m. with IPL President and CEO Rafael Sanchez and Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett addressing the crowd in celebration of sustainability efforts.   Additionally, Sanchez and Hogsett will announce six convention hotels located in downtown Indianapolis that have pledged to participate in IPL’s Green Power Option, which allows participants to specify a percentage of their   monthly electricity use to be generated by wind, an environmentally friendly resource.

IPL encourages passersby who receive a tree during the event to download our Right Tree Right Place brochure and look for tips to plant smart with the utilities in mind.

For the fourteenth year, IPL is recognized as a Tree Line USA utility. Tree Line USA utilities must meet certain standards—training employees in quality tree-care practices, educating the public about planting trees for energy conservation and helping homeowners plant appropriate trees near utility lines—to be considered for the award.
