AES Indiana, a subsidiary of The AES Corporation (NYSE: AES), released its 2022 Community Impact Report today, detailing more than $2 million in investments in Central Indiana. The investment was distributed to 54 nonprofit organizations in Central Indiana with a focus on arts and culture, customer needs, economic development, education and workforce development, environment and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

“The challenges our customers and communities faced in the past few years were the driving force behind our smart and strategic investments,” said Kristina Lund, AES Indiana President & CEO. “We emerged from the pandemic with renewed energy and a greater need to drive positive lasting impact in the communities where we live and serve. Our impact report shines a light on our commitment to our customers and our continued commitment to accelerating the future of energy, together.”

Below are a few highlights from AES Indiana’s 2022 Community Impact:

    • Continued its annual Employee Giving Campaign tradition and donated more than $400,000 to 35 different nonprofit organizations in Central Indiana.

    • The Indiana Latino Institute hosted the inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Our Light, Nuestra Luz. The historical event celebrated Latino Hoosiers by projecting a celebratory video on AES Indiana’s 10-story building on Monument Circle.

    • The AES 500 Festival Parade returned in 2022, after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event brought more than 200,000 people together to celebrate the parade along the streets of downtown Indianapolis.

    • Continued support of JobSpark, Junior Achievement’s two-day hands-on career expo at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. More than a dozen AES employees volunteered their time planning throughout the year and at the event to help students learn more about careers in the growing energy and utility industry.

    • Supported the Indy’s Lunch for Parks, where a record number of attendees experienced the “fun lunch” benefiting The Parks Alliance of Indianapolis and celebrating the importance of The Parks Alliance and the parks systems in our community.
