Powering What Matters to Central Indiana

December 22, 2025

As we close out 2025 at AES Indiana, I’m grateful for the opportunities to power the moments that matter most for our customers across Central Indiana. For more than a century, our mission has been constant: to deliver safe, reliable, and affordable service to the people and businesses who count on us every day. This year, that commitment guided every decision — from the restoration work our crews performed after severe storms and the support we offered customers and community organizations, to the long-term planning we advanced to meet tomorrow’s demand.

In 2025, we powered safer and more resilient communities. AES Indiana’s years of strategic investments in Central Indiana’s electric grid are paying off and have resulted in our best operational performance in over a decade. Our customers are benefitting from technology like our high-tech Fault Location Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR) system, an automated distribution system that immediately detects outages and reroutes impacted customers when possible.

We focused on meeting our customers where they are. Throughout the year, our team traveled across our service territory for Community Office Hours to help residential customers better understand usage, access financial assistance, and create an opportunity for them to ask questions about the investments we are making as a company. These face-to-face events expanded awareness and empowered families with practical tools to manage energy costs.

Energy costs continue to be a topic on the minds of many. AES Indiana’s residential rates have been among the lowest of Indiana’s investor‑owned utilities for over a decade, enabled by disciplined cost management and asset optimization. As we plan for the future, our energy transition continues to be guided by the state’s energy pillars and our Integrated Resource Planning process, ensuring we balance reliability and affordability.

This year’s long‑term planning identified a path to support unprecedented growth while strengthening grid reliability and resiliency. I’m grateful for the leadership behind House Enrolled Act 1007, which ensures large‑load customers cover at least 80% of associated costs and positions Indiana for responsible growth.

We are in advanced discussions with data center developers, including Google, which recently announced its new Morgan County Data Center. Earlier this month, Google issued a press release announcing details of this new campus which would reside in our service territory. They reaffirmed their commitment to not just pay for 100% of the costs to serve their data center, but also any other costs associated with its development. Studies like one currently published by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory show that states with the highest load growth experienced reductions in real energy prices, whereas states with diminishing loads generally saw real energy prices rise. When we spread fixed costs over more electricity demand, the result can be downward pressure on the retail prices our customers pay. In 2026, we will continue to explore how these high-tech investments can enhance reliability, create good‑paying jobs, and strengthen communities across Central Indiana.

We are living in complex times with a lot of change all around us. Our job at AES Indiana is to manage what’s within our control and to do it responsibly, transparently, and with a long-term vision for a stronger, more resilient energy future.

The year ahead brings new opportunities, and AES Indiana is ready to meet them with the same dedication that has guided us for more than a century. It is our honor to serve 530,000 customers across Central Indiana, and we never take that honor for granted. Thank you for trusting AES Indiana to power the moments that matter most.

With Gratitude,
