For A/C switch customers

AES Indiana is phasing out air‑conditioning load management (ACLM) switches and transitioning to smart thermostats to support energy savings during peak demand periods. As part of this update, the CoolCents® program is modernizing its technology to ensure reliable service and long‑term support. Because older ACLM devices are no longer widely supported, they can be harder to maintain and less reliable.

By switching today, you can continue your participation with little impact on comfort, gain greater control over your thermostat, and keep the same CoolCents benefits.

If you enrolled in the CoolCents program before 2017 and have the original A/C switch installed you will need to upgrade to a smart thermostat by May 31, 2026 continue your participation. AES Indiana offers multiple ways to help you make the change:

  • Option 1: Purchase a qualifying smart thermostat on the AES Indiana Marketplace by visiting aesindiana.com/smart-tstats and receive $50 instantly on smart thermostats from Google, ecobee, Sensi and Honeywell. Prices start as low as $69.99.
  • Option 2: Already have a smart thermostat? Find out if it qualifies for enrollment by viewing the CoolCents User guide.
  • Option 3: See if you qualify for a FREE smart thermostat when you complete an In-Home Energy Assessment. * Visit aesindiana.com/ie-hea or call your Energy Concierge at 866-908-4915 to see if you qualify.

 

Who qualifies?

  • AES Indiana residential and business customers
  • If you rent or lease your home, a signed landlord release form is required.
  • *To receive an smart thermostat, your home must have electric heat or central cooling, a compatible HVAC system and working Wi-Fi. If you would like a smart thermostat, we’ll install one for you. Terms and conditions apply.
