AES Indiana Prepared to Deliver Reliable, Affordable Energy During Summer 2026 Demands

AES Indiana, a subsidiary of AES (NYSE: AES), today confirmed to the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) during its Summer Reliability Forum that it is prepared to meet customer energy needs throughout the Summer 2026 season with sufficient generation capacity, system readiness, and a continued focus on affordability.

Alongside other utilities and regional grid operators, AES Indiana provided an update on its planning, operations, and coordination to ensure reliable electric service during periods of peak summer demand.

AES Indiana’s summer readiness reflects a disciplined, multi-year approach to planning and operating the system, including:

Sufficient generation capacity to meet forecasted peak demand and planning reserve margin in accordance with HEA 1520

Coordination with regional grid operator MISO to maintain system reliability

Ongoing investments in generation and grid infrastructure to support long-term growth and resilience

Operational preparedness across field, generation, and customer teams to respond to extreme heat and system needs

Supporting Customers with Near-Term Affordability Options

Recognizing the impact of higher summer usage on customer bills, AES Indiana is taking steps to support customers now through proactive community outreach, flexible payment options, and enhanced visibility into energy use.

Proactive customer outreach to provide in-person, one on one support for customers who have questions about their bills or want to learn more about energy efficiency programs and resources.

     Earth Fest Indiana | May 30 | 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

     Madam Walker Legacy Fest | June 20 | 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Flexible payment arrangements, including extended payment plans for customers who need additional time to pay their bills.

Bill payment assistance resources, connecting customers with billing and payment programs that best support their unique needs, including Levelized Billing for all AES Indiana customers.

Energy Efficiency tools and alerts, including PowerView, which provide near real-time usage insights, projected bill tracking, and notifications to help customers stay informed and in control of their energy usage.
