AES Indiana has sufficient capacity to meet its load obligation for Summer 2025.

AES Indiana is ready to meet summer energy demands

May 20, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS – AES Indiana, a subsidiary of AES (NYSE: AES) announced in today’s Summer Reliability Forum, hosted by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC), that it has sufficient capacity to serve its customers for the Summer 2025 season. AES Indiana, along with other large investor-owned electric and gas utilities, and regional transmission organizations, were called to brief the Commission on their preparations for the upcoming summer high energy usage months.

With the hotter summer months, utilities will see electricity demand peak as people spend more time inside trying to stay cool during the warmest days.

“AES Indiana recognizes the importance and criticality of providing customers with safe, reliable, and affordable service all year long,” said Brandi Davis-Handy, President of AES Indiana. “As summer temperatures rise, the demand for electricity increases. AES Indiana has the resources to ensure reliable energy service for our more than 530,000 customers, including peak periods of extreme heat.”

AES Indiana is committed to helping customers manage their energy use and save money by following these hot weather energy efficiency tips:

  • Help reduce cooling costs. Set your thermostat back at least 8 degrees each day when you are at work and when you go to bed.
  • Don’t set the thermostat lower than you want it, even if you’re trying to cool your home quickly. It won’t cool your home any faster, and it runs your system longer than necessary.
  • Ventilation is the least expensive and most energy-efficient way to cool your home. Try ventilating your home by opening windows to create a cross breeze, using room fans, and using whole house fans.
  • The easiest way to save money and energy use is to regularly clean and replace your cooling unit’s filters. A clogged filter restricts airflow through the unit, decreasing its efficiency and reducing its ability to effectively cool the air.
