AES Indiana Volunteers Complete Community Improvement Projects During 16th Annual Day in the Parks at Eagle Creek Park

Indianapolis, Ind. (Sept. 29, 2026) – More than 350 AES Indiana employees and retirees came together today at Eagle Creek Park for the company's 16th Annual Day in the Parks, completing 16 improvement projects and contributing approximately 1,600 volunteer hours to enhance one of Indianapolis' most treasured public spaces.

Volunteers worked throughout Eagle Creek Park on projects designed to improve visitor experiences, beautify public spaces and support the long-term preservation of one of the nation's largest municipal parks. Efforts included landscaping, painting, trail improvements, facility enhancements and environmental stewardship projects benefiting the thousands of visitors who enjoy the park each year.

Today, hundreds of volunteers helped create a stronger, more vibrant Eagle Creek Park for families, residents and visitors to enjoy for years to come."

The event was completed in partnership with Eagle Creek Park, Indy Parks and Recreation and the Parks Alliance of Indianapolis.

Among the projects completed were:

• 12 acres of landscaping and beautification improvements 
• 4 facilities painted and refreshed, including Earth Discovery Center, Beach Shelter, 
Ornithology Center, and the Park Administration Office 
• 1 new staircase built and installed on the Red Hiking Trail 
• 841 native plants, trees or shrubs installed 
• 16 skilled labor projects completed by AES Indiana field crews

"Our partnership with AES Indiana demonstrates what can be accomplished when businesses invest in community spaces," said Jenny Boyts, Executive Director of the Indy Parks Alliance. “The work completed today will have a lasting impact on Eagle Creek Park and the visitors who enjoy it throughout the year."

Day in the Parks is one of AES Indiana's longest-running employee volunteer initiatives. Since the program began 16 years ago, AES Indiana team members have contributed approximately 1,000 volunteer hours each year, improved parks across Indianapolis and helped strengthen the quality of life in the communities they serve. 

This year's event marked the first of a two-year partnership with Eagle Creek Park, building on the company's long-standing commitment to community investment, environmental stewardship and employee volunteerism.
