January 24, 2026
AES Indiana, a subsidiary of AES Corporation (NYSE: AES) announced today that it’s temporarily suspending disconnections for nonpayment for all customers for the remainder of January due to extreme bitter cold temperatures arriving across Central Indiana this weekend and through next week. Winter Storm Fern is expected to bring dangerously cold temperatures along with significant snowfall this weekend.
Our team is fully staffed and prepared to meet the increased demand for electricity. We encourage customers to stay safe and prepare for the bitter cold.
There are several tools and resources in place to help our customers stay informed and prioritize safety. Be weather aware with these tips:
- Plan ahead. Pack an emergency kit with water, non-perishable food items, a first-aid kit, portable chargers, flashlights and extra batteries and blankets. More suggestions for what to include can be found here.
- Visit our Outage Center. Sign up for outage alerts in our Alerts and Notifications Center. Find frequent updates on our Outage Communications page.
